I urge you to use your position to raise this critical human rights issue with the Foreign Secretary and the UK Government. Over the past weeks, multiple violent and premeditated attacks have occurred. On 10 October, a targeted armed attack was launched on the Bait-ul-Mahdi Mosque in our national headquarters in Rabwah, Pakistan, immediately following Friday Prayers. An armed assailant opened fire on Ahmadi volunteers, resulting in five Ahmadi Muslims being injured, two of them critically. Prior to this, on 28 September, a violent mob launched a devastating attack on the community in Piro Chak, District Sialkot. The attack followed tensions over the obstruction of an Ahmadi woman's burial. At least five individuals sustained serious injuries, and the mob proceeded to torch multiple Ahmadi Muslim homes, at least one shop, a car, a tractor, and a cargo van. Eyewitnesses describe families, including terrified women and children, being forced to flee their homes in the dead of night following threats of death and property seizure. These incidents are not isolated; they represent a continuous, existential threat to this peaceful, law-abiding community. The right to peacefully practice one's faith and the security of life and property are fundamental human rights that are being flagrantly violated. This is part of an escalating wave of anti-Ahmadi hostility, which has seen hundreds of Ahmadis Muslims murdered, over 50 mosques attacked in recent years, and 421 graves desecrated since 2021. These acts undermine Pakistan’s obligations under international human rights treaties and tarnish its global reputation. The persecution faced by Ahmadi Muslims not only threatens the social fabric of Pakistan but also challenges its international standing as a country that upholds human rights. I urge you to call on the UK Government to press Pakistan Government to: - Immediately halt anti-Ahmadi Muslim violence and ensure that perpetrators of such acts are brought to justice. - Uphold its obligations under international human rights law by ensuring the safety and rights of Ahmadi Muslims. - Protect Ahmadi Muslim mosques and end the ongoing harassment and violence against the community.
